The NZSBA builds partnerships and collaboration by hosting business events on current business topics and with visiting Scandinavian ambassadors, ministers, and business delegations – as well through hosting social / networking events to create value for members and encourage the flow of knowledge to support bilateral trade, investments, goodwill, and exchange of intellectual capital between individuals and organizations in New Zealand and Scandinavia.

NZSBA SCHOLARSHIP

Hans and Pat Björklund Scholarship
for studies in Scandinavia

The Scholarship's purpose is to support New Zealanders who are interested in 3 to 12 month duration University level studies and/or related working experience in Scandinavia in subjects deemed important for cultural, political, and/or business relationships between New Zealand and the five Scandinavian (Nordic) countries.

The annual value of the Scholarship is a maximum of NZ$ 3,000.

 

To apply for the Scholarship, applicants must complete the application form (below) (and provide any further information requested by NZSBA) by 22 July each year. NZSBA will confirm the outcome to applicants during the first week in August each year.  After awarding the Scholarship to the successful applicant, NZSBA will provide the Scholarship funds to the successful applicant for his or her studies and/or work experiences in Scandinavia during the following financial year.

NZSBA expects the successful applicant:

  1. to share his or her learnings and experiences in Scandinavia with NZSBA, its members, and the wider community, to enhance the knowledge and experience gained from the Scholarship, and

  2. to help in promoting the Scholarship.
     

NZSBA will confirm its specific requirements when awarding the Scholarship to the successful applicant.

Frequently Asked Questions 
 

Who can apply for the Scholarship?

Only New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand are eligible.

Is there only one Scholarship on offer each year or several?

One Scholarship is available each year. In the absence of a suitable application, however,
NZSBA may, at its discretion, elect to not support a Scholarship in any particular year.

 

Does a successful applicant receive the full Scholarship?
The annual value of the Scholarship is a maximum of NZD 3,000.

NZSBA may, at its discretion, award the Scholarship to one or more successful applicants.
NZSBA may also, at its discretion, increase or decrease the funding amount, at its discretion.
What NZSBA looks for when making this decision is an applicant who is both deserving of the funding, and studies and/or working experience that particularly match the Scholarship criteria (above).

 

When are applicants notified if their application has been successful?

For each year’s application round, applicants will be notified in August if they are successful.
If successful, an applicant would receive the Scholarship funding in August
(or when his or her studies commence, if later).
