On 24 June we launched our first Nordic Networking event at our member Cult’s showroom on the Strand in Parnell. This event, which will be held twice a year at this stage – more often if required - will provide a more informal environment where members can get together for drinks, nibbles and networking.
After an hour around of 40 Nordic Networkers mingling at Cult we heard from Mette Hoberg Tønnesen, our Danish Trade Head of Mission, on her role as the appointed Trade Commission in NZ. Mette described her work of primarily assisting Danish companies enter the NZ market, but also her pragmatic approach to helping NZ companies looking for contacts and assistance in entering the Danish market. Katherine at Cult talked us through some of the wonderful pieces of Scandinavian designed furniture and lighting. If you want something truly special that will last a lifetime for your officer or home go online or to their store.
Congratulations to Dan Carman, NZ head of Husqvarna, for winning the VOLVO car for a weekend. Husqvarna had 6 people attend so well deserved Dan and thanks for the support. We hope to hold a site visit at Husqvarna during September to hear Dan give a little insight into the company’s history. Husqvarna was founded in founded in 1689 to produce muskets for the Swedish Army so 2014. Dan has just returned from the 325 years birthday celebration back in Southern Sweden. Read more here. Many of our member companies deep histories are something we should all be proud of. These histories are a result of, and serve to highlight, the ‘Scandinavian advantage’.
A big thanks to the wonderful team at Cult for their hospitality and use of their showroom.
